Spamfield, The Wight Party, is NOTAMed as a Microlight Fly-in.

Although this is a microlight fly-in I would be pleased to welcome any and every form of aviation that can squeeze into Sandown. Paramotors, Rotorcraft (and I lurve Rotorcraft), Microlights, Motor Gliders... GA... No racism here.

You are only banned from Spamfield if you have a propensity to wear white shirts with bars on your shoulders - thats a no-no so stay away.

The event is not limited to members of the British Microlight Aircraft Assocation although you will be able to join at the event.

I would not presume to lecture anyone on how to fly to Sandown but, if I may, I would like to offer a few observations...

  • Please do not infringe Southampton - they have been known to get their knickers in a twist if you do.

  • Keep an extra good look out over the Solent - lots of aircraft at different speeds over a small stretch of sea.

  • Stay switched on in the circuit - lots of aircraft types with a great variety of speeds. If in doubt GO AROUND. No good pilot will be critical of anyone going around..

  • I say again - if in doubt GO AROUND.

  • Oh one final thing.. once you have landed please, please, please.. as soon as your speed allows get off the runway! You do not need to taxi the whole length.

  • Oh.. another final thing - watch your radio use as you will be getting broadcast on loud speakers and we ARE all listening. Not that you need a radio to fly in of couse but if you got one.. we be listening :-)

Fly safe and stay safe folks
